The Goodspeed Sonoma: a limited edition driver/diver chronograph combining vintage aesthetics, modern components at an affordable price. Available in both mechanical or quartz movements and in five colorways.
STORY
Goodspeed Watches began with the idea of creating affordable chronographs inspired from the golden age of motorsports when driving was still an analog process. Our newest project, the Sonoma, is named after the famed race course from my home state of California. The Sonoma combines vintage aesthetics, and is packed with modern performance at a price that suits any budget.
AESTHETICS
We were able to capture the aesthetics of vintage watches with a case shape that rarely gets used today, called a tonneau case. Made from 316L stainless steel, the front of the case is finished in what's called a sunray brushing so named because the brush pattern radiates out from the center like the sun's rays. The sides of the case are polished which adds a nice contrast to the brushed stainless steel front. The uncluttered dial, with two sub-registers makes telling the time and counting the seconds easy no matter how fast you're traveling. This watch purely captures the aesthetics found in vintage watches from the 1960s and 70s but with a modern twist and the addition of high-end modern components. Additionally, we combined style elements from both motorsport racing watches as well as dive style watches to create a unique look that you'll love to wear.

DIAL
The dial was kept to the bare minimum to enhance readability with printed vintagey lume serving as the hour markers. Continuing the minimalism, the only other markings being the Goodspeed script and "chronograph".
The subdials are enhanced with concentric circular grooves engraved into the watch face; because details matter.
MOVEMENT CHOICES
The Goodspeed Sonoma is being offered in two movement choices: the Seagull ST1901 mechanical and the Miyota 6S21 quartz.
Why are we offering two movements? Some watch owners appreciate a mechanical movement for its sense of history and craftsmanship. And others want the best value they can get and will opt for the quartz movement. As a result, we've decided to offer this watch in two versions:

Extremely Limited Edition Gold Reverse Panda Dial Sonoma
As a last minute addition, we are adding a fifth colorway to the Sonoma lineup: a Gold PVD version. The quantities will be extremely limited as only 10 are being made initially. The watch will feature the same great Seagull ST1901 movement (no quartz version), sapphire crystal and will come on the Gold PVD Beads of Rice bracelet as shown in the photo below.
BRACELET
Every Sonoma will come on an Italian leather perforated racing watch band (as has been shown above). But we are also offering a matching stainless steel bracelet with straight end links for an additional $45. The outer links of the bracelet are brushed with the center solid "beads of rice" links polished. The bracelet is offered in both Stainless and Black PVD finish. The bracelet is the perfect addition to complement your Goodspeed Sonoma (yes, you'll still receive the leather bracelet.)

"The Goodspeed Sonoma offers a beautiful vintage-inspired racing chronograph at an astounding price. As I mentioned up top, you really feel the quality of this piece. If that Heuer Autavia Diver is just out of reach for you (maybe you’re looking for something under $9,000?), and you love the vibe, then the Sonoma is a perfect pick. That said, if you just love a solid vintage-styled chrono, the Sonoma is good for you." -The Time Bum |
